Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen this summer, according to multiple sources. The Bundesliga champions are said to have been monitoring the 21-year-old Dutch defender for some time and believe he has the potential to become a key player for them.
Maatsen, who can also play as a left-winger, has impressed for Chelsea's youth teams and has made several appearances for the first team in recent seasons. He has also represented the Netherlands at youth level and was part of the squad that won the 2021 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
Bayern Munich are in need of a new left-back after Alphonso Davies suffered a season-ending injury. Maatsen would provide competition for the Canadian international and could also challenge for a starting role.
The transfer fee for Maatsen is expected to be in the region of £20 million. Bayern Munich are confident that they can agree on a deal with Chelsea as the Blues are looking to raise funds to sign their top summer targets.
If Maatsen completes the move to Bayern Munich, he will become the second Dutch player to join the club this summer after Matthijs de Ligt.
